Hi, I am Robyn Fortuin and welcome to Robyn’s Nest

I am a Registered Nurse & Midwife, currently practising as an independent midwife supporting moms in the comfort of their home, welcoming their baby earthside

My love for midwifery and supporting women was influenced by a very passionate lecturer, followed by a traumatic birth experience I encountered while supporting a mom, as a student midwife.
I qualified in 2015, and subsequently completed my community service and furthering my work experience at Mowbray Maternity Hospital, and some private hospitals.

I too am a mother to two young boys and it wasn’t until I was in labour with my first son that I realised what women needed in labour - space & time to allow her body to do what it is meant to do in labour and during childbirth

Just as mother nature intended

When I started working as an independent practitioner in February 2023, I was exposed to so much more that the birth world had to offer.
I unlearned most things I knew about medicalised and intervention-based hospital births and opened myself to truly being present with women, observing physiological births

I offer home births and antenatal care to low risk women, serving the Northern and Southern Suburbs of Cape Town
I am passionate about supporting & empowering women and giving them the best possible experience where they feel supported & heard during their pregnancy and birth
